TESDA COMMENDATION

Hon. Edwin Piano
City Councilor
Olongapo City

The Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Zambales Provincial Office family would like to say thank you for the support you have given us in implementing programs, especially in the field of skills training.

Two years ago, when I first assumed office here at TESDA Zambales, I was then facing the challenge of reestablishing a good partnership with the City Government of Olongapo. Meeting you at that time made that daunting challenge much easier because you showed firm commitment to promoting TESDA programs.

That commitment is manifested by the flourishing Olongapo Skills Training Center established at the Office of Mayor James "Bong" Gordon. Through your efforts both as a City Councilor and the Training Director of the Center, we have noted that more than 8,000 out-of-school youth, unemployed adults and indigent people have been equipped with technical & vocational skills, especially in welding. Most of them found jobs with Hanjin.

It can be recalled that the City Government of Olongapo won as TESDA's Regional Kabalikat Awardee in 2008 due to its remarkable contribution to our TechnicalNocational Education & Training (TVET) Sector. We believe that this was made possible due to your vibrant leadership and strong advocacy program on skills training.

It is on this light that we want to commend you! The virtual welding, the innovation you have introduced and the tracking system you have installed at the Skills Training Center have impressed us so much. With your great attitude and excellent performance, we believe that you will perfectly match the criteria for the next TESDA Ramon Magsaysay Awards.

We wish you all the best!

Sincerely yours,

ELIZABETH DM. MANIO(sig)
Provincial Director
